Châteauguay Jr Raiders

The Quebec Major Junior Football League is happy to announce that after over 40 years, the Chateauguay JR Raiders have decided to relocate.
Beginning the 2024 season the JR Raiders will move across the bridge to the West Island of Montreal.
They will now be part of the North Shore Family and will carry the name of the North Shore JR Raiders.
Welcome back to the league North Shore.
The location of their practice and game fields will come in a future post, but if any player has questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to the Raiders head coach Derek Durocher.

La Ligue de football junior majeur du Québec est heureuse d’annoncer qu’après plus de 40 ans, les JR Raiders de Châteauguay ont décidé de se relocaliser.
À compter de la saison 2024, les JR Raiders traverseront le pont pour s’installer dans l’ouest de l’île de Montréal.
Ils feront maintenant partie de la famille de la Côte-Nord et porteront le nom des JR Raiders de la Côte-Nord.
Bienvenue dans la ligue de la Côte-Nord.
L’emplacement des terrains d’entraînement et de jeu fera l’objet d’un prochain article, mais si un joueur a des questions, n’hésitez pas à communiquer avec l’entraîneur-chef des Raiders, Derek Durocher.

LFJMQ accueille les Wildcats

L’Association Régionale de Football Laurentides-Lanaudière (ARFLL) a déjà œuvré au sein de la QMJFL de 2011 à 2018 sous le nom Sabercats de la Rive Nord. Le retour d’une équipe junior se marie avec notre mission de vouloir offrir du football à des jeunes de la région qui ne sont pas prêts ou disposés à le faire au niveau collégial.

The Association Regionale de Football Laurentides-Lanaudière (ARFLL) previously operated within the QMJFL from 2011 to 2018 under the name Sabercats de la Rive Nord. The return of a junior team dovetails with our mission of wanting to offer Football to young people in the region who aren’t ready or willing to do it at the college level.

2023 – Joe Pistilli Cup Game Review

Congratulations to the South Shore JR Packers. A perfect season.

The Pistilli Cup had the JR Packers vs the JR Raiders, and so much excitement was all around on Saturday, Nov 11th.
The game started as a defensive battle, but turnovers and injuries became too much for the Raiders to overcome. The Packers cruised to their second straight Pistilli Cup.

Bilan de la Coupe Pistilli. Félicitations aux South Shore JR Packers. Une saison parfaite.

La Coupe Pistilli opposait les JR Packers aux JR Raiders, et l’excitation était à son comble le samedi 11 novembre. Le match a commencé par une bataille défensive, mais les turnovers et les blessures sont devenus trop importants pour les Raiders. Les Packers ont remporté leur deuxième Coupe Pistilli consécutive.

2023 – Midseason Week 5 Recap

Mid-season and week 5 review.

The QMJFL is great football. The halfway point has passed, and we are starting to see some dominant teams. Fans have continued to enjoy our game, and many players are enjoying the caliber of play.

Week 5 saw some very exciting football. We started off on Saturday with the league’s two undefeated teams facing off. It was an exciting game to watch, and the visiting Packers prevailed.

On Sunday we had the Raiders and Les Loups play. Both teams are very talented and are firing on all cylinders. The lead went back and forth, but the Raiders came out on top with a few seconds left in the game.

Week 6: we have Les Loups visiting Quebec City, and The Raiders visiting the Packers for their home opener.

La mi-saison et de la semaine 5

La LFJMQ, c’est du bon football. La moitié de la saison est passée et nous commençons à voir des équipes dominantes. Les fans continuent d’apprécier notre jeu et de nombreux joueurs apprécient le calibre de jeu.

La semaine 5 a été marquée par des matches très excitants. Samedi, les deux équipes invaincues de la ligue se sont affrontées. Ce fut un match passionnant à regarder, et les Packers en visite l’ont emporté.

Le dimanche, les Raiders et les Loups se sont affrontés. Les deux équipes sont très talentueuses et fonctionnent à plein régime. L’écart entre les deux équipes s’est creusé, mais les Raiders se sont imposés à quelques secondes de la fin du match.

Semaine 6: Les Loups visitent la ville de Québec et les Raiders visitent les Packers pour leur match d’ouverture à domicile.

2023 – Week 1 Recap

Week 1 in the QMJFL, was everything we expected. We had two great games, with a really tight game in Ottawa.

The Jr Riders had their hands full with the visiting Battalion. Both defences were very strong, and the Riders ended up prevailing in the end.
The Jr Packers visited the Loups, and after a sputtering first half, the Packers continued right where they left off after the championship game last year.

Looking forward to week 2 when we have the Battalion visiting Les Loups, and the Raiders taking on the Packers.

Faits marquants de la semaine 1

La première semaine dans la LFJMQ a été à la hauteur de nos attentes. Nous avons eu deux excellents matchs, avec un match très serré à Ottawa.

Les Jr Riders ont eu fort à faire avec les visiteurs du Battalion. Les deux défenses étaient très fortes, et les Riders ont fini par l'emporter.
Les Jr Packers ont rendu visite aux Loups, et après une première mi-temps hésitante, les Packers ont continué là où ils s'étaient arrêtés après le match de championnat de l'année dernière.

Nous attendons avec impatience la deuxième semaine, au cours de laquelle le Battalion rendra visite aux Loups et les Raiders affronteront les Packers.

2023 Elected President – Gary Rusyn

La LFJMQ a récemment élu M. Gary Rusyn au poste de président lors de son assemblée générale annuelle tenue virtuellement le 28 mars 2023. Montréal, QC (29 mars 2023)

M. Rusyn a baigné dans le football toute sa vie. Il a joué au football amateur pour les Barrons de St. Bruno et les Packers de Greenfield Park. Il a continué avec les Cheetahs de Vanier et les Stingers de Concordia, puis avec les South Shore Packers, qui faisaient partie de la LFJMQ. Il a continué à jouer pendant sept autres années avec les Titans de Châteauguay. Tout en jouant au football, Gary a continué à donner en retour, et il a entraîné les Packers et les Montreal Blitz, la seule équipe professionnelle féminine au Québec.

Après avoir joué au football pendant près de 23 ans au Québec, Gary s'est rendu à Ottawa où il a commencé à exercer plusieurs fonctions d'entraîneur de la ligne offensive et de coordonnateur de l'offensive avec les Nepean Eagles et les Kanata Knights, qui font tous deux partie de la ligue de football de la NCAFA.

J’ai hâte de vivre cette nouvelle expérience et de me lancer dans cette entreprise, et certainement de redonner à la LFJMQ ce qu'elle m'a donné. J'ai hâte de poursuivre les relations déjà établies, mais aussi d'en commencer de nouvelles, qui amèneront un jour plus d'équipes dans la LFJMQ.”– Gary Rusyn

The QMJFL recently elected Mr. Gary Rusyn, to the position of President at their Annual General Meeting held virtually on March 28 th , 2023. Montreal, QC (March 29 th , 2023).

Mr. Rusyn has been around football his entire life. Playing amateur football for St. Bruno Barrons, and Greenfield Park Packers. Continued with the Vanier Cheetahs, and Concordia Stingers, and followed up with the South Shore Packers, which was part of the QMJFL. Playing continued for 7 more years with the Chateauguay Titans. While Gary played football, he also continued to give back, and he coached the Packers and the Montreal Blitz, the only women’s professional team in Quebec.

After almost 23 years of playing football in Quebec, Gary made his way to Ottawa and began coaching in multiple roles from Offensive Line Coach and Offensive Coordinator, with the Nepean Eagles and Kanata Knights, both part of the NCAFA football league.
