Welcome back, Jr. Riders!
After a three-year absence, the Ottawa Jr. Riders will be returning to the Quebec Junior Football League for the 2017 season.
For 16 consecutive years, the Ottawa team had been a perennial powerhouse. Since joining the QJFL they had won the Joe Pistilli Cup seven times and they last played in the league during the 2013 season when they finished second in the regular season rankings but were eliminated from the playoffs by the North Shore Sabercats who beat them 27-26 on their home field in the championship semi final.
The Jr. Riders are coming back with a strong group of coaches led by Max Palladino who has a long list of accomplishments on his resume. With a large and successful development system for young football players playing at the bantam, junior varsity and senior varsity levels of the OVFL league, the Jr. Riders have a large pool of talent that they can draw from and are expected to be competitive right from the start of the season, which is scheduled for August 19, 2017. The Jr. Riders’ home field will be the same facility as before, the Minto Field on Woodroffe Avenue in Nepean, but with a new synthetic turf surface that is planned to be installed this spring.
With the return of the Jr. Riders, the QJFL will again have five teams competing for the championship, playing a balanced eight game schedule.

Après une absence de trois ans, les Jr. Riders d’Ottawa seront de retour dans la Ligue de football junior pour la saison 2017.
Pendant 16 années consécutives, l’équipe d’Ottawa a été toujours une des équipes les plus puissantes. Depuis leur adhésion à la LFJQ, ils ont remporté la Coupe Joe Pistilli sept fois et ils ont joué jusqu’à la saison 2013 quand ils ont fini en deuxième place au classement de la saison régulière, mais ils ont été éliminés lors des séries éliminatoires par les Sabercats de la Rive-Nord qui les ont battus 27-26 à leur propre terrain lors du match de la demi-finale du championnat.
Les Jr. Riders reviennent avec un fort groupe d’entraîneurs dirigé par Max Palladino qui a une longue liste de réalisations sur son CV. Avec un système solide de développement de jeunes joueurs qui participent aux niveaux bantam, varsity junior et varsity de la ligue OVFL, les Jr. Riders ont accès à un basin étendu de talent et ils sont censés d’être compétitifs dès le début de la saison, qui est prévue pour le 19 août 2017. Les Jr. Riders vont jouer au même endroit qu’auparavant, c’est-à-dire les installations du Minto Field sur l’avenue Woodroffe dans l’arrondissement de Nepean de la ville d’Ottawa, mais avec une nouvelle surface au gazon synthétique prévue d’être installée au printemps.
Avec le retour des Jr. Riders, la LFJQ comprendra de nouveau cinq équipes qui seront en lice pour le championnat avec un calendrier équilibré de huit matchs pour chacune.
